Monitoring Tool for De Sprong vzw

During my studies at Thomas More University of Applied Sciences, I had the privilege of working on a significant project for De Sprong vzw., an organization dedicated to fostering inclusion and providing opportunities for people with disabilities. In collaboration with a fellow student, we were tasked with developing an application that would help their supervisors track employee performance and provide timely feedback. The goal was to create a tool that would streamline the evaluation process, making it easier for supervisors to monitor progress and support employee development.

The application we built allows supervisors to assess both technical skills and general competencies, providing a holistic view of an employee’s growth. It includes features that enable supervisors to track development over time, offering insights into areas of improvement and achievements. By capturing this data, the application empowers supervisors to offer constructive feedback, which is essential in helping employees reach their full potential. This functionality aligns with De Sprong’s mission to create an inclusive work environment and promote personal and professional growth for all employees.

One of the key challenges in this project was understanding the specific needs of De Sprong and ensuring that our solution fit seamlessly into their existing workflow. We worked closely with the organization to grasp the nuances of their performance evaluation process, which guided the design and features of the application. The goal was to create a user-friendly interface that could be easily adopted by supervisors without disrupting their daily tasks. Balancing technical requirements with practical usability was an important aspect of the project, and it allowed us to develop a tool that would truly make a difference.

This project was a rewarding experience, as it required not only technical problem-solving but also a focus on the broader mission of De Sprong. Developing an application that could aid in employee development and inclusion provided a sense of purpose and direction throughout the project. I also gained valuable insights into the process of creating tools that serve both organizational and social goals, further shaping my understanding of how technology can be used to drive positive change.
