My Project
Oldtimer Rally - Ghent & Brussels

In March 2019, I had the pleasure of organizing an Oldtimer rally, a unique event that brought together vintage car enthusiasts for a day of scenic driving, camaraderie, and charity. The rally commenced with a delightful breakfast at Castle Baudries in Dikkelvenne, where participants gathered with their beautifully preserved oldtimers. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as classic car owners shared stories, admired each other’s vehicles, and prepared for the journey ahead. The event aimed to provide a well-organized and enjoyable experience, allowing participants to relish both the drive and the picturesque landscapes along the route.
After breakfast, the convoy of oldtimers set off towards Castle Groenenberg in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw, where lunch was scheduled. The journey between the castles was carefully mapped out, ensuring that the route took participants through charming countryside roads and scenic vistas. Along the way, drivers had the chance to fully enjoy the capabilities of their vintage vehicles while engaging in friendly competition. The thrill of seeing such classic automobiles in motion, parading through the landscape, was a spectacle not only for participants but also for passersby who admired these rolling pieces of history.
To make the rally more interactive, we introduced a challenge where participants were given a sheet containing pictures of specific objects they would encounter along the route. Their task was to note the correct order in which they saw these objects throughout the journey. This added an element of engagement and observation, making the drive even more enjoyable. The competition encouraged participants to pay close attention to their surroundings, fostering a deeper appreciation for the beauty of the landscapes they were driving through. Upon reaching the final destination, the team with the most correct answers was awarded a prize, adding a sense of friendly rivalry to the day’s events.
The return journey in the afternoon took participants back to Castle Baudries, with a planned pitstop in Eke. This provided an opportunity for drivers to rest, share their experiences, and discuss the highlights of the rally before reaching the final destination. The event was designed to be more than just a drive; it was a celebration of classic cars, the joy of the open road, and the shared passion among enthusiasts. By the end of the rally, participants had not only enjoyed a fulfilling day of driving but had also formed new friendships within the classic car community.
Beyond the enjoyment of the event, the Oldtimer rally had a meaningful purpose. The profits generated from the rally were donated to "De Liaan," a department of Youth Care Flanders. This charity is dedicated to supporting children facing difficult situations at home, providing them with temporary housing and seeking long-term solutions for their challenges. Knowing that our event contributed to such an important cause made the rally even more special. It was a day of nostalgia, adventure, and generosity, one that left lasting memories for all involved while making a real difference in the lives of children in need.
